If you are planning a New Zealand skiing holiday then Cardrona is the place for you. Cardrona is located on the main range between the towns of Queenstown and Wanaka on New Zealand’s south island. This is regarded as possible the best ski resort in the country. It is really easy to get to as you can fly into Queenstown from either Australia or other NZ destinations. Cardrona has very limited on snow accommodation which is usually booked out year on year so the best options are to stay in either Queenstown or Wanaka. Both have lots of options to choose from and everything from backpacker hostels right through to top of the range resorts hotels and apartments are available in both towns. There is a shuttle bus service from either or you can hire a vehicle and drive yourself if you like. If snow chains are required the road will be clearly marked.

The ski resort itself is second to none. There is a great restaurant and service area with everything that you would expect. Ski school and ski hire are both available and there is plenty of lifts. During school holidays the lifts can get a bit long but the three big chairlifts usually cope with the demand. The slopes are fantastic with everything available from beginner’s areas through intermediate and advanced runs. This mountain is extremely popular with both snowboarders and skiers alike. People come to the resort from all over New Zealand and Australia. During the poorer ski seasons Cardrona is always the best choice as it is higher and further into the mountain range than most of the other local ski resorts.
