Coronet Peak is the busiest ski resort on the south island of New Zealand. It is located just twenty minutes drive from the center of Queenstown. The entire resort has just completed a multi million dollar facelift and the entire service and restaurant areas have been totally rebuilt. This gives the resort the facilities to cater for thousands of skiers every day. The ski school and ski hire sections are second to none and the restaurant and alfresco dining areas are also able to fully cater for everyone. Regular bus services will carry you from your accommodation in Queenstown to the skiing area as there is no on snow accommodation. There is plenty of parking within easy reach of the service areas if you choose to drive your own vehicle to the resort. The road will be clearly marked if snow chains are required. It is an easy drive from Queenstown to the resort and the road is sealed almost right to the top.

Coronet Peak has three chair lifts and a number of tows. There is a two seater chair on the beginners slope and the main slopes are serviced by two large six seater chairs. The queues here are always reasonably short. The slopes themselves range from beginner level to advanced and there are plenty of intermediate slopes as well. The mountain is popular with skiers and snowboarders alike. The view to the south from the ski slopes is really spectacular. From here you are high above the town of Queenstown and you overlook Lake Wakatipu, miles of local agricultural valleys and all of the surrounding mountain ranges. It really is picture postcard perfect. Coronet Peak is less likely to be clouded in than some of the other local ski resorts so it is always a good choice if the weather is marginal.
