Mt Hutt is one of New Zealand's premier ski resorts. It is located on the south island a little more than an hour’s drive inland from Christchurch. Mt Hutt produces some of the lightest, deepest and driest powder snow in Australasia and it is usually the first of the New Zealand ski resorts to open for the season. There is no on snow accommodation at Mt Hutt so everyone stays in Christchurch and drives to the snow each day. There is also a regular shuttle bus service that picks up from Christchurch accommodation and then drops back again at the end of your day.

The resort has recently upgraded its equipment and now sports a six seated chair lift as well as a quad seated which provide access to many trails and runs. The beginners area has a magic carpet lift so everyone is well catered for. There is a really good service area with a restaurant, ski school, ski hire, ski patrol and administration center. Mt Hutt is a big mountain that offers an awesome range of terrain for you to ski or snowboard on. Intermediate and advanced skiers will be delighted with the challenges that they will find. The ski season here usually starts in early June and extends through until October and nearly all seasons have adequate snow. The resort is fully equipped with snow making gear just in case nature does not deliver.

The resort is very family friendly with a licensed ski crèche and children under six ski for free so this is a fantastic place for a family ski holiday. If you are in the process of organizing your next skiing or snowboarding holiday then you should put Mount Hutt on your list of possibilities.
